Solo debut
THE NAKED TAPES
Out this Spring

Filmmaker Kris Lefcoe has always had a secret identity as a musician.

She started performing in a hoodie with her back to the audience under the moniker MC Tourettes in the early aughts. For the release of the electroclash compilation Bad Grrrlz (Gay Records) - featuring songs by Peaches and Carole Pope - Kris performed at a strip bar wearing a burqa while getting a lap dance. Her speed-rap single Little Liquid topped the CIUT Toronto college radio chart. Her band Mousekiss, with members of Blue Rodeo, Rusty, r., and Groovy Religion, regularly played Toronto venues like the Drake, the Rivoli, and the El Mocombo.

After moving to NYC, Kris started playing solo shows using nothing but an old keyboard she found in the garbage. These “garbage keys” became the foundation of her unique sound – sparse, haunting space-pop. In a raw, lilting voice over a swollen bed of harmonic decay, Kris spills secrets about bad cops, weird drugs and the nature of time and space.

BOOKED A ROOM, her first solo release, is set for June 2024.
