Filmmaker Kris Lefcoe has always had a secret identity as a musician.

A classically-trained pianist, Kris started performing in a hoodie with her back to the audience under the moniker MC Tourettes in the early aughts. For the release of the electroclash compilation Bad Grrrlz (Gay Records) - featuring songs by Peaches and Carole Pope - Kris performed at a strip bar in a burqa. Her speed-rap single Little Liquid topped the CIUT Toronto college radio chart. She formed a band with members of Blue Rodeo, Rusty, and Groovy Religion, performing under different names at Toronto venues The Drake, Rivoli, and the El Mocombo.

After moving to NYC, Kris started playing solo shows using nothing but an old DX-100 keyboard she found in the garbage. These “garbage keys” became the foundation of her unique sound – sparse, haunting space-pop. In a raw, lilting voice over a swollen bed of harmonic decay, Kris spills secrets about bad cops, weird drugs and the nature of time and space.

Booked A Room, the first single from debut EP The Naked Tapes, will be released June 10 2024. A hallucinatory stop-motion music video directed by Kris will have its World Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival June 8.
